Illinois Football: Illini recruiting wishlist for the class of 2020
1. James Frenchie
For most of 2019, the recruitment of James Frenchie has been quiet. Players all around him, including his teammates, have picked what programs they are committed to playing for, but Frenchie has taken the process one step at a time.
The silence seems to have broken, though. There are now reports out there that Frenchie’s recruitment is going to start heating up this fall. He is wanting to take official visits during the football season. Illinois seems to be on his radar still as well. That is always a good sign because I want this kid in Rod Smith’s offense.
Frenchie is a 5-foot-9, 175-pound wide receiver from Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 288 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 51 wide receiver in the nation. He is also the No. 5 player in the of Missouri as well.
I think Illinois has a good position where with Frenchie. With his former coach and Illinois’ current tight ends coach, Cory Patterson, recruiting the talented wide receiver, I think we have a solid shot. But Missouri continues to gain momentum with state of Missouri recruits, which makes me nervous.
Frenchie is on my wishlist, though. This kid would help the Illini offense elevate to the next level. He is that talented.
