The recruitment of Owen Carney has been up and down for the Illinois football team.

Carney has kept Illinois on his top list for a while now but then he edits that list.  He continues to keep the Illini on it but adds one team here and takes one off there.

The latest revised list that Carney has put out is his top five.  This top five includes Miami, Duke, Kansas State, Mississippi State, and Illinois.

Back in June when Carney released this list he had Duke at the top.  Illinois then followed Duke, so they were No. 2 on his top five list.

Carney is a big-time player that is going to be huge for any team that picks him up.

Right now, 247Sports has Carney rated as a 3-star weak-side defensive end who is the No. 469 player in the class of 2017 and the No. 69 player in the state of Florida.

I think the major worry for the commitment of Carney is the Florida teams.

Miami and Florida State are both making strong pushes for this talented defensive end.  I can only hope that Lovie can pull Carney out of the state of Florida.
