Every Illinois basketball fan is on the edge of their seat waiting to see who we can snag out of the transfer portal.

The transfer portal has both been a blessing and a curse to every college basketball program including for the Illini.

We have been able to pull great players out of the transfer portal like Terrence Shannon Jr. and Marcus Domask, but some of the players we have lost have been painful. Let's check in on where some of the transfer portal departures are today.

Here is an update on how Illinois basketball transfer portal departures are doing today

Skyy Clark

Illinois basketball was able to pull in one of the best recruits in program history when Skyy Clark committed. This was supposed to be the start of a special generation of talent.

Clark was a 6-foot-3, 200-pound point guard who was coming out of the powerhouse high school program, Montverde Academy. He was rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 33 player in the class of 2022. He was also the No. 6 point guard in the country and the No. 9 player coming out of Florida.

Illinois was able to beat out a team like Kentucky for Clark’s commitment. The career in Champaign was short-lived, though. Clark averaged 7.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 13 games for the Illini. He eventually stepped away from basketball and the program.

Clark then entered the transfer portal. He picked Louisville as his next landing spot. This past season, Clark played in 29 games for the Cardinals and averaged 13.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. Louisville finished 8-24 overall.

On March 24, Clark once again entered the transfer portal. He then picked UCLA as his landing spot on April 3. This puts Clark back in the Big Ten and will face Illinois at least once per season. That game should be fun.
