The women's Illinois basketball program is set to take part in its most pivotal season to date, and they are taking fans along for the ride with their new series, 'Falling Into Place.'
The Illini will be giving their fans an all-access look as their team goes through summer workouts in preparation for the season ahead. It will be a series filled with plenty of interesting moments, with episode one focusing heavily on the team's new arrivals, as well as their first team meeting of the season.
Illinois will be looking to make a major splash this season, and after the first installment of 'Falling Into Place,' it looks like they will have some great stories to tell prior to tipoff. But what are three interesting notes that fans should be taking away from the first episode?
Divine Bourrage switched leagues as a kid because she was too talented
As a parent, the biggest lesson that you want to teach your child is to strive to be the best. The last thing that you want is for them to be forced to play down to others, just because it makes them feel better.
That is exactly what happened to transfer guard Divine Bourrage when she was a child. According to her mother, Leanne Binion, she literally had to pull her daughter out of a five-year-old Y-League because Bourrage was so advanced, and the league wouldn't allow her to do certain things.
Thankfully, Binion was able to find a more advanced league for her to play in, where she would eventually flourish and grow into the player that we know today.
There was a positive energy during Illinois' first meeting that is hard to explain
When Shauna Green had the entire team back for their first team meeting of the new year, there was a different energy in the room. It's hard to really describe it, since we were not actually there, and the clips that we saw were edited for the show.
With over 90% of the roster from 2025-26 returning, it almost felt like there was an extra bit of confidence floating around this crew. This team felt like they've been together for years, and were coming back to make another run for a title.
If anything, with the way Green was talking to her roster, it just feels like the women's program is completely bought in right now. They all know each other, and they are all comfortable with each other, so now it's time to put this thing in another gear and go for it.
