4. Jeremy Fears

Another top point guard to keep an eye on moving forward is Jeremy Fears. Illinois needs a No. 1 guard in the future, and having two options in Kylan Boswell and Fears is a great luxury right now.

Fears is still ranked in the top 30 nationally, checking in at No. 26. But this is a six-spot drop from his previous No. 20 ranking. What does this mean? Absolutely nothing. Six spots in the top 30 is just rearranging the deck chairs. Fears is still elite and will help whatever team he picks.

Back in 2020, Fears decided to transfer away from the state of Illinois and picked La Lumiere as his landing spot. This is a prestigious prep school in Indiana, not too far away from Chicago. Illinois actually plucked Jalen Coleman Lands out of La Lumiere, so there is some familiarity.

Illinois has been eyeing Fears for a while now. In addition to the attention the Illini are giving Fears, he has also taken an unofficial visit to Champaign. As of right now, I do not believe Fears has scheduled an official visit with any program, though.

The connection between Fears and Illinois is there. Fears is an in-state kid who played for Joliet West before transferring to La Lumiere. I would love to keep him home and win a title with homegrown talent. Fears would be a great option at point guard for this program.
