12. Game Blocks

The tremendous size Kofi Cockburn brings to the court is amazing. But without some athletic ability, he wouldn’t be nearly as legendary as he is today. That great athletic ability enables the big man to block shots for the Illini.

In his first season with the program, Kofi was able to block six shots in a game against Indiana. Those six blocks enabled him to land at the No. 5 spot on the single-game blocked shots list. He is tied with a plethora of other great Illini shot-blockers.

13. Career Blocks

Kofi has been able to block shots at a fairly high rate. The six blocks as a freshman were huge for the program, but his sustained blocking success is what sets Kofi apart from the rest. Kofi managed to block a total of 40 shots last season. If he could do that again in 2021-22, he would finish with 124 blocks for his career. That would put him No. 8 all-time in career blocked shots, right behind Efrem Winters.

14. Career Average Blocks

The number of blocked shots by Kofi is impressive. He has been able to change games with his defensive abilities. Kofi’s career average blocks per game are tremendous as well. If he can duplicate his blocks from last season, Kofi would finish with a career average of 1.3 blocks per game. He would end up No. 5 all-time on the career blocks average list. This would put him ahead of some other great big men like Meyers Leonard and James Augustine.
