7. Joey Okla

Okla is a 6-foot-3, 285-pound interior offensive lineman from Hartland, Wisconsin. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 721 player in the class of 2022.

Illinois was able to secure a commitment from Okla back on February 5. This was a big commitment and one of the biggest for Bret Bielema after being just a couple of months on the job. Okla is taking an official visit to Champaign this weekend. As of right now, he doesn’t have another official visit set up, so that is good news for the Illini. We still need to impress this talented Wisconsin native, though.

8. Donovan Leary

Leary is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback from Sicklerville, New Jersey. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 817 player in the class of 2022.

Illinois secured a commitment from Leary back on March 29. He will now take an official visit to Champaign this weekend to get a look at his new home. As of right now, no other official visits are scheduled for Leary. So, it looks like the Illini found their quarterback of the future. It is always comforting knowing that Bielema was able to secure a quarterback he likes in his first recruiting class.

9. Hunter Whitenack

Whitenack is a 6-foot-7, 290-pound offensive tackle from New Carlisle, Indiana. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 929 player in the class of 2022.

One of the more surprising commitments for the Illini was Whitenack back on April 16. He will be in for his official visit to Champaign this weekend. Even with an official visit scheduled to Cincinnati on June 16, Whitenack seems to be a solid commitment for the Illini. He is even recruiting other players to come to Champaign, which is usually a sign there is no wavering.
