No. 3 Guard/Forward

Starter: Trent Frazier

We have a new starter at the No. 3 guard role on the team. This position was Jacob Grandison’s role before Trent Frazier decided to return to Champaign. Now Frazier is going to take over the duties as the No. 3 guard and one of the main scorers on the team.

Frazier has done some amazing things in the four years he has been with the Illini. This past season alone, he put up 10.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals as the third option on the team. He also hit 36.2-percent of his three-point shots. Look for Frazier’s numbers to increase with him being one of the main scoring option on the team this upcoming season.

Backup: Brandin Podziemski

Much like Luke Goode, I am excited to see how Alfonso Plummer and Frazier help develop Brandin Podziemski at the next level. Illinois received a commitment from Podziemski on April 13, and this commitment helped build depth in a much-needed area of the lineup.

Podziemski will probably come into the Illinois basketball program as a backup at the No. 3 spot. He should see somewhere between 10-15 minutes, like Goode. The second level of the Illinois lineup, which consists of Podziemski and Goode, should be able to light it up from the three-point arc. It is going to be exciting to see opposing defenses struggle as Illinois goes with two different mentalities with each rotation.
