5. Noah Locke

A new name on the board for the Illinois basketball program is Florida transfer, Noah Locke. After having a successful run with the Gators, Locke announced he was entering the portal back on March 25.

Locke was a highly touted recruit coming out of McDonogh School. He was rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 80 player in the class of 2018. He was also the No. 15 shooting guard in the nation. After a long recruitment with plenty of interest, Locke picked Florida as his landing spot.

Since arriving in Gainesville, Locke lit the world on fire. He averaged 9.4 points and 2.3 rebounds as a freshman. He then averaged 10.6 points and 2.5 rebounds as a sophomore and 10.6 points and 2.4 rebounds as a junior. These are good numbers in the SEC, but now Locke is looking for a better situation.

Why does Illinois basketball have a shot?

Locke is more of the plug and play at the guard position. He would be a direct replacement for Adam Miller in this situation. I would slot Locke at the No. 2 guard spot because of his great three-point shooting ability.

Next. Selah Brown a “major priority” for the Illini. dark

Illinois is interested in Locke as well. They are one of the teams that have already been in contact with the talented guard. The need is there and the playing time is available. I don’t see why this wouldn’t be a potential marriage.
