1. Chaundee Brown

There are a lot of hot names out on the transfer market right now, but I would argue the biggest get would be Chaundee Brown.

Brown was a 6-foot-5, 195-pound shooting guard coming out of The First Academy back in 2017. He had a ton of programs vying for his commitment considering the kid was the No. 36 player in the class of 2017. But Wake Forest was the team that sparked his interest the most, so the Demon Deacons were able to land him.

The three years with Wake Forest were pretty solid for Brown. He averaged 7.6 points, 3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in year one. He then followed that up with 11.9 points, 5 rebounds and 1.2 assists as a sophomore.

Last season, as a junior, Brown had the best season of his career. He ended up averaging 12.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Now he is looking for a new home to finish out his final year of eligibility.

Brown declared for the NBA draft a couple of weeks ago but kept the idea of coming back for his final year a possibility. He then entered himself into the transfer portal. I get the feeling this kid is going to come back and play for a different team.

As of right now, I believe Brown will have to sit out the upcoming season, and then he is eligible to play for the 2021-22 campaign. Illinois is one of the teams that has communicated with Brown about come to Champaign. There hasn’t been a list cut or anything like that yet. I think his decision is wide open right now.

Brown would be a great addition to the Illinois basketball program. If he has to sit out a year, that would be perfect because Trent Frazier is in his final season with the Illini. Once Frazier departs, that would open up the starting No. 2 guard spot, and this is where I see Brown fitting in. He would start his final year in college. This would also enable him to show off his skills to NBA scouts. It seems like it would be a good marriage.
