Illinois Football: 3 NFL teams who need Dre Brown the most
2. New York Jets
Like I mentioned in the last slide, there were a lot of bad rushing teams in the NFL last season. The Miami Dolphins were the worst team league, but the New York Jets weren’t too far behind.
The Jets checked in as the No. 31 team in the NFL in rushing. They only averaged 78.6 yards per game on the ground. That is an insanely bad number. The shocking part about their bad rushing numbers is the fact they brought Le’Veon Bell on last season.
Heading into the 2020 campaign, Bell is the projected starter. He is going to be the starter in New York as long as he is with the team. But, behind Bell, there isn’t a ton of production. The rest of the depth chart features Josh Adams, Kenneth Dixon and Trenton Cannon.
Adams only played in three games last season and averaged 1.5 yards per carry. Dixon missed the entire 2019 campaign due to a knee injury, so he hasn’t touched the rock since 2018. Cannon saw action in four games last season but didn’t touch the ball either.
There is zero depth with the Jets right now. That is why Dre Brown would be a good player for them to look at in the upcoming NFL Draft. Brown could come in and be a solid No. 3 for the team. He wouldn’t get a ton of carries, but I believe he would push Adams for the No. 2 role. Brown would give the Jets more stability in the backfield.
