$3 Spot

Option 1 – Trent Frazier

Option 2 – DJ Richardson

Option 3 – Nnanna Egwu

Option 4 – Lucas Johnson

My Pick – Trent Frazier

The three-dollar spot gets a little messy. These four are hard to choose from because I would be drafting on need. The four options are Trent Frazier, DJ Richardson, Nnanna Egwu and Lucas Johnson.

Richardson was a nice three-point option when he was with the Illini. He could knock down shots from all over the court. Those Illini teams had some solid seasons where Richardson was one of the main players. It was tough leaving him out.

I loved what Egwu brought to the Illinois basketball team as well. While he didn’t score much with the program, he was one of the best shot blockers I have seen in the Orange and Blue. He would be a good pick for a center but I can’t because that is coming down the road.

One of my favorite Illinois players of all-time is Johnson. He didn’t put up massive numbers, but he was the grit of those early 2000’s Illini teams. There was no one I would pick over Johnson to go to war with. This kid was fun to watch.

I ended up picking Frazier over the other three players. I love his game way too much to pass up. Illinois will succeed this upcoming season because of Frazier’s ability to knock down shots with Steph Curry confidence. This kid is huge for the program and one of the best shooters I have ever seen for the Orange and Blue.
