$5 Spot

Option 1 – Meyers Leonard

Option 2 – Dee Brown

Option 3 – Deron Williams

Option 4 – Luther Head

My Pick – Deron Williams

The five-dollar spot is a tough one. The four options for the five-dollar spot include Meyers Leonard, Dee Brown, Deron Williams and Luther Head. All four of these players did some special things with the Illini.

Leonard is arguably the best center we have seen suit up for the Orange and Blue in the last couple of decades. If he would have stuck around all four years, he would have broken several big man records. It was hard to pass him up.

Brown was the most electrifying player in college basketball in all four years he was with the Illini. He should have gone to the NBA after his junior campaign but injury brought him back to Champaign. It is hard to pass up someone with that speed and energy.

I always loved Head’s game as well. This kid developed into a great three-point shooter. He could make a shot from anywhere on the court. Head’s athletic ability was extremely underrated as well. He could jump out of the gym.

With that being said, I have to go with Williams for my five-dollar spot. He was the entire package at the college level. He had the ability to distribute the ball and was clutch in big-time moments. This kid was one of the best I have ever seen play the game while at Illinois.
