No. 1 Guard

Starter: Ayo Dosunmu

One of the best players on the Illinois basketball team right now is Ayo Dosunmu. This kid came into the program as a top 35 player in the class of 2018 and has started to really develop into a leader.

It took a little while for Ayo to get warmed up to the college game, though. He had a six-game stretch this season where he scored 10 points or less in each contest. That stretch ended and Ayo is now finding his groove. He has dropped 21, 20 and 18 points in the last three games. He is handling the ball well and is in control of this offense. I have him as the No. 1 guard entering next season.

Backup: Andres Feliz

I have the backup to Ayo being current backup, Andres Feliz. He joined the Illinois basketball program as a junior college transfer this season. Feliz brings a level of experience at the point guard role that we haven’t seen in a while for the Illini.

Feliz has averaged 6.8 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game this season. He will be a senior next year and a big part of this team. I have him backing up Ayo at the No. 1 guard spot.
