2. Terrence Shannon – 68% Illinois, 22% Georgetown, 10% Florida State

Do you want an in-state kid who can play ball with the best of the best in the country? I think you can find that with a player like Terrence Shannon.

Shannon is a 6-foot-6, 185-pound small forward from Lincoln Park High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 81 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 23 small forward in the nation. He is also ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois.

At one time, Shannon shut down his recruitment and picked DePaul as his landing spot. That lasted about a week and something didn’t feel right for Shannon. He decided to back out of his commitment and look at all of his options.

Since then, Shannon has visited Texas Tech back on September 15 and Illinois on September 21. He is then visiting Georgetown this weekend on October 5. I am surprised Florida State hasn’t received an official visit yet, though.

I think Shannon reopening his recruitment was huge for the Illinois basketball program. As soon as this happened, Coach Coleman was in contact with Shannon. The Illini coaching staff realizes how important this kid is to the program.

Shannon’s recruitment is interesting now. I am not sure where he will end up going. I think Illinois is the lean, but Georgetown makes me nervous because of the head coach. I also think Florida State is a strong team too. But, I think Illinois will win out here.
