2. Drew Timme

One player Illinois has been after for a few years now is Drew Timme. He is a big-time player from the state of Texas who could help this program in the paint.

According to Rivals, Timme is a 6-foot-10, 215-pound power forward from Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. He is now rated as a five-star recruit who is the No. 29 player in the class of 2019.

The new rankings were great for Timme. He was originally listed as the No. 40 player in the class of 2019 before today. But, the new rankings moved him up 11 spots. This was a huge move for a talented kid.

The recruitment of Timme is becoming clearer by the week. He cut his list down to 10 programs back on August 2 and included Texas Tech, Gonzaga, Louisville, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Purdue, Arizona, Alabama, Oklahoma and Illinois.

There hasn’t officially been another cut yet, but Timme did just take an official visit to Texas A&M this past weekend. I believe this is his first official visit so far. His in-home visits just started as well. He had an in-home visit with Gonzaga on September 10. He will then welcome in Alabama September 12, Michigan State September 13, Arizona September 16, Illinois September 17 and Louisville on September 18.

So, if you were planning out a top five for Timme, I would include Texas A&M in that bunch. There are only four official visits left. Hopefully, Illinois will be able to snag one.
