2. Moses Okpala

Illinois has a coaching staff that is geared toward the defensive side of the ball. That is why adding a monster like Moses Okpala would be big for the program.

Okpala is a 6-foot-7, 250-pound strong-side defensive end from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 494 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 32 strong-side defensive end in the nation.

There hasn’t been a list cut for Okpala since he started getting recruited hard at the beginning of this year. There have been plenty of teams to offer him a scholarship, though. He has 22 offers on the board right now with more likely to come here in the next few months.

247Sports has Okpala at 100-percent Illinois, but that prediction was back in May. His recruitment has really been quiet since that time. But, from the look of things, Illinois is the only place Okpala has taken an unofficial visit to. He still hasn’t been on an official visit yet.

I would be shocked if the Illini aren’t in the lead for Okpala. There has been little information to come out of his camp in a while, but Illinois should have the lead here. I think it is a matter of when he commits, not if he commits.
