Ahmad Craig – Top 10

Lovie Smith is a defensive guy and building a legendary defense is something he did while with the Chicago Bears. He is trying to do the same with the addition of Ahmad Craig.

Craig is a 6-foot-6, 240-pound strong-side defensive end from Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 738 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 50 strong-side defensive end in the nation.

The top list for Craig consisted of 10 teams. He included Tennessee, Auburn, Oklahoma, Memphis, UNC, Duke, UCF, Mississippi State, NC State and Illinois. This is a scary list because of all the top teams that don it.

Honestly, I think snagging Craig is going to be extremely difficult. It is a great thing that Illinois made the top list for him, but he is in SEC country and a top 1000 recruit. I imagine teams like Oklahoma, Auburn and Tennessee will all be in the running for his commitment.

I think Illinois is going to have a shot. I think Craig ends up cutting his list again probably to his top five. Illinois has a chance at this list, in my opinion. But, this will be a tough get for the program.
