Kahlil Whitney

Kahlil Whitney is a 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward from Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, New Jersey. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 55 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 14 small forward in the nation.

Whitney is a part of the Mac Irvin Fire AAU club out of Chicago, Illinois. The team is currently 3-5 for the EYBL season with another session coming up this weekend. He has been sensational for this team, though. His dominance is one of the reasons why I want him in Orange and Blue.

So far in AAU play, Whitney is averaging 23.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. This great production comes on 54-percent shooting from the field and 48.6-percent shooting from behind the three-point arc. He isn’t just shooting a few three-pointers, though. He is 18-of-37 from deep. That makes his three-point percentage even more impressive.

Just in Whitney’s last game against The Family Detroit, he put up 29 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists while shooting 12-of-24 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point land. The only issue I have with him is his free-throw shooting. He is now shooting 44.4-percent from the charity stripe. That is something he needs to work on.

I want Whitney to play for the Illini so bad. This kid is special. He should be in the Orange and Blue. Hopefully, the connection to the Mac Irvin Fire will help bring him to Champaign.
