5. Jirehl Brock

There are some talented players coming from the state of Illinois in the class of 2019. These players could help build the Illini back into a Big Ten contender. Getting a powerful player like Jirehl Brock would be special for the Illini.

Brock is a 6-foot, 180-pound running back from Quincy High School in Quincy, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 127 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 3 player in the state of Illinois.

I know the news of Brock as of late hasn’t been great for the Illini. It seems like Iowa and Iowa State are the two leading teams for his commitment. They seem to be in the news the most for this young running back.

Illinois seems to be in the running still. They have been on him for a while now, and he likes the coaches and feels comfortable with them. He has visited Champaign a few times as well. It would be nice if the Illini could pick up a little more traction with Brock, though. It seems like their chances might be slipping away.

Honestly, Brock is the one recruit on this list that I think Illinois isn’t leading with. His likely destination is Iowa when it is all said and done. But, the Illini aren’t out of the running. Add a few more talented players to the class of 2019 and it automatically becomes a more viable option for him. Hopefully, the coaching staff can keep this running back in the state of Illinois.
