Illinois Basketball: Illini have three in final 247Sports rankings for 2018
247Sports released their final rankings for the class of 2018, and here is where the Illinois basketball team stands.
It looks like Ayo Dosunmu checks in at No. 27 in the final rankings for 247Sports. This is one spot lower than where he was originally, but he is still rated as a five-star recruit. He is the centerpiece of the Illini this upcoming season.
The big mover for the Illini was their second highest ranked recruit, Tevian Jones. Jones was originally ranked as the No. 119 player in the class of 2018 but has now moved up 25 spots to No. 94 in the nation. He cracked the top 100 and that is impressive. He is also still rated as a four-star recruit.
Another big mover is Alan Griffin. Griffin committed to Illinois and wasn’t ranked by the recruiting sites. Rivals came in with their ranking and now 247Sports has him on their list as well. He cracked their top 247. Griffin comes in as the No. 199 player in the class of 2018, which is a 122 spot improvement. He is also rated as a three-star recruit.
Illinois has three players who didn’t make the top 247 but are still going to be impact recruits. I think Andres Feliz will have the biggest impact of the three players who didn’t make the list. He is a junior college transfer point guard who will fill in nicely for departing guard Te’Jon Lucas. Feliz was one of the best JUCO players in the country.
I think Samba Kane is going to play some serious minutes in 2018 as well. This kid is 6-foot-10 and should be an impact player in the paint for the Illini. He is also ranked as the No. 281 player in the class of 2018 and rated as a three-star recruit.
The final player in the class of 2018, as of right now, is Giorgi Bezhanisvili. He will come into the Illinois basketball program and compete for minutes. I wouldn’t doubt to see him potentially redshirted year one, though.

Illinois has the No. 23 class in the nation right now, according to 247Sports. They will likely add one more player soon. I can’t wait to see what this class can do in the Big Ten.
