This week is pretty big for the Illinois football team and the future of the program.

To start things off, the Illini had a multitude of players visit Champaign during the week. These players included the likes of Anwar Jackson, DaRon Gilbert, Savontae Tyler and more. Getting some of these players into the program would be good for depth and building a team that can compete.

But, this week isn’t completed just yet. Illinois still has their final spring practice on Saturday followed up by a scrimmage. This is where they will welcome in some of the best talent in the nation. They will have players there like class of 2019 commit, Marquez Beason. Illinois will also be hosting big-time recruits like Jason Bargy.

Bargy isn’t your average recruit. This kid is a beast wrapped up in a future NFL body. He is a player who would help change the Illini defense around in year one. Getting him is one of the top priorities for this Illinois football team.

The reason Bargy is a must get is because of what he brings to the table. He is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end from Momence High School in Momence, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 91 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 4 weak-side defensive end in the nation.

The recruitment for Bargy has been quiet. He takes his visits but doesn’t really talk a lot to the media about where he is with his recruitment or who is out front right now. But, Illinois does want this kid and they have been putting a lot of resources into recruiting him.

Lovie Smith went and visited Bargy back on November 29 of last year. Luke Butkus and Mike Phair then visited him on January 17. Bargy then took an unofficial visit to Champaign on January 22. Since then, he has been to Minnesota, Michigan State and two times to Iowa State. But, he will be taking an unofficial visit back to Champaign this weekend.

This weekend is huge for the Illinois football team. They have one of their best recruiters in Beason coming up from Texas, and he should be able to help in getting Bargy to stay home. If they can add him to the mix, the Illini will likely have the best recruiting class this decade and one of the best in the nation when 2019 is all said and done.
