Illinois Football: Top 5 recruiting targets left for Illini in 2019
5. Kyren Williams
The Illinois football team is finally getting their quarterback situation straight and this will help the wide receiver core. With additions like Kyren Williams, the Illini should have a nice stable of talented pass catchers.
Williams is a 5-foot-10, 190-pound wide receiver from St. John Vianney High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 581 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 12 player in the state of Missouri.
The recruitment of Williams is between a few schools right now. It seems Notre Dame is the team to beat but Illinois is making a strong push for him. He has visited Illinois already back in January, and then he attended the Illini junior day in February. Lovie Smith and the coaching staff continue to put heat on this kid.
I like what Williams brings to the table. He is a player that can move around in the offense. Sending players in motion throws off the defense and can get them confused. Williams is able to do that. He can play in the slot or on the outside. They can run reverses or screens with him. He is a multi-tool player and that is something Illinois needs. Snagging Williams would be a nice get for this coaching staff.
