1. Jermaine Couisnard

With only one player signed up for 2018 and the Illini needing scoring help, a player like Jermaine Couisnard would help build depth off the bench with scoring ability.

Couisnard is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard from Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 193 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 20 player in the state of Florida.

All signs point to Couisnard going to South Carolina. The “experts” over at 247Sports have him heading that away and they are the only place he has taken an official visit. This doesn’t usually bode well for other programs vying for a recruit.

Illinois does have location as a recruiting tool, though. Couisnard only transferred down to Florida this past year. He is an East Chicago Central High School product and wanted to get more exposure down at one of the most prestigious basketball academies in Montverde.

Overall, though, I am not feeling too confident about Illinois’ chances of landing Couisnard. They were a little late to the party only offering him a scholarship on January 8. I am very curious to see if he decides to take other official visits and if the Illini can snag one of the four.
