No. 1 Guard

Starter: Trent Frazier

The Illinois basketball starting No. 1 guard is likely to be Trent Frazier. He had two years of being a backup guard playing 20 minutes per game and the previous season he started after a few great guards departed for the NBA.

Frazier has good size for a starting guard. He currently stands at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. He will have enough size to be able to drive the ball in the lane. He also is a good ball distributor and shooter as well. These will both be huge factors moving forward. He will continue improving both of these areas and the starting job will be his during his senior campaign.

Backup: Marquise Walker

Illinois landed a very underrated recruit in Marquise Walker from the class of 2019. He had a good freshman season as the backup to Frazier and the recruiting sites are looking foolish by only having him as a three-star recruit who was not in the top 100.

Walker serves as the primary backup to Frazier in 2020. He will continue to be groomed for the starting role in 2021. His abilities will grow as he receives over 18 minutes per game. He will be one of the best bench players in the Big Ten.
