Illinois Basketball: Why Dosunmu won’t pick XU, WFU, NC ST, USC & UC
NC State Wolfpack
The North Carolina State Wolfpack have fallen on hard times as they haven’t made the NCAA tournament the past two seasons and have failed to have a winning record as well. This got their head coach fired and now a mid-major head coach, Kevin Keatts, steps in as the new man in charge.
Keatts doesn’t have a long coaching history and the small sample size was just with a small mid-major program in North Carolina-Wilmington. The instability with the program, mixed in with the uncertainty of how good the head coach, is a cause for concern. This could be a deterrent for Dosunmu.
The Wolfpack has also had a lot of talented players come into the program who could be ahead of Dosumnu if he picks them. Markell Johnson is a guard who should shine the next few years and will likely start as well. He was a four-star coming out of high school in the class of 2016.
Lavar Batts is another guard coming in from the class of 2017. He is also a four-star recruit who will eat up some minutes. And next year, the class of 2018, North Carolina State already has Jamie Lewis committed who is a four-star guard as well.
This much talent is likely to eat up a lot of minutes that Dosunmu would want on the basketball court. The playing time factor could really hurt their chances in the Dosunmu sweepstakes.
