3. Talen Horton-Tucker (Confidence: 5 out of 10)

There are players in every recruiting class that come out of the woodwork and show that they are underrated. The player in the class of 2018 that claims that title is Talen Horton-Tucker.

Horton-Tucker is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound small forward from Simeon High School in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit who isn’t ranked by Scout but is the No. 160 player according to 247Sports in the class of 2018. He is also the No. 4 player in the state of Illinois as well.

The rise of Horton-Tucker has been fun to watch. He has really come onto the scene over the last year, and he will be a great asset to whatever team he chooses. He currently has 14 scholarship offers right now and Illinois, Michigan State and Northwestern are the projected leaders.

Horton-Tucker’s recruitment has been interesting. There have been reports that he won’t go to the same program that Dosunmu goes to, but that has since been debunked by Horton-Tucker himself. I have heard he is likely to commit to Northwestern and that came from an AAU coach. But, I think Horton-Tucker’s recruitment is still wide open.

Look for the Illini to be in the mix down the stretch for Horton-Tucker. They need a good player for 2018 who can provide depth at that No. 3 and No. 4 spot and that is what he brings to the table. Illinois should be in the running when it is all said and done.
