7. OT Justin Osborne; Class of 2019

To protect the quarterback and block for the running backs, Lovie needs to snag some talented offensive linemen. Justin Osborne is a highly regarded recruit who will have a tremendous amount of scholarship offers soon. He is a 6-foot-4, 251-pound offensive tackle out of Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas.

Osborne isn’t ranked on the 247Sports composite, but they do have him ranked on the website as a three-star who is the No. 262 player in the class of 2019 and the No. 37 player in the state of Texas. Offering a kid from Texas is bold of Lovie. He has been laying the groundwork to have a pipeline there, and getting someone like Osborne would be huge for the program. He currently has six scholarship offers and more are sure to come soon.

8. WR Cameron O’Neil; Class of 2018

Getting more depth to the class of 2018 is important for the Illinois football team. They have offered talented wide receiver Cameron O’Neil a scholarship in hopes of building that depth on the outside. He isn’t ranked on the recruiting sites right now but he is a 6-foot-1.5, 186-pound wide receiver from Glenwood High School in Phenix City, Alabama.

Lovie is dipping his toe into the Alabama talent that gets overlooked by programs like Alabama and Auburn. That is a smart strategy because that state has some talented players. If he continues to push hard in Alabama and Texas, the future will be bright for the Illini.
