5. QB Michael Wright Jr.; Class of 2020

Lovie Smith and the Illini offered Michael Wright Jr. a scholarship as well. He is a 6-foot-5, 165-pound quarterback from Woodward Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. He is from the class of 2020 so he isn’t ranked yet but look for him to be a special recruit.

Illinois is the only team to offer Wright a scholarship this early in the process but that will change soon enough. Clemson is already looking at this kid and he will continue to get looks throughout the next few years. Wright is likely to be a high four-star recruit who is in the top 300 among the class of 2020.

6. QB Nik Scalzo; Class of 2019

A kid from the class of 2019 who will start to rise tremendously is quarterback, Nik Scalzo. He is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound recruit from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He isn’t ranked by the recruiting sites yet but there is still time.

Illinois offered Scalzo a scholarship. The only other program to extend such an offer is Yale, and they aren’t a division I school. But, he is getting attention from multiple teams including North Carolina and Clemson. Don’t be surprised if this kid ends up being a four-star recruit who is a top 300 player in the class of 2019. Hopefully, Lovie can get to him and establish a relationship.
