2nd String: Te’Jon Lucas

Next: 3rd String

Incoming freshman Te’Jon Lucas is currently the backup point guard in my opinion.  He has displayed great scoring and passing ability on the high school level and I think that could translate into the college ranks.

Lucas is the only commit so far for the class of 2016 but he looks like he could be special.

Illinois needs a good point guard and that has been something they have missed the last two years.  Ever since Abrams went down Groce has not been able to find the answer at the top of the key.

Lucas is a high 3-star recruit that is going to make a big impact on the team.  Despite his recent injury he should be able to fill the No. 2 spot on the roster and I could see him getting a good deal of minutes by the time the Big Ten slate rolls around.

The current point guards the Illini have a combine 7.6 PPG and 6.7 APG.  These numbers are not going to help you win any games if that is what you are getting from 3 point guards combined.
