G Quentin Snider
The best player in the state of Kentucky in the class of 2014 was guard Quentin Snider. He was rated as the 6th best point guard in the nation and a player who was wanted by some of the top schools in the country.
Snider had been committed to Louisville for a while before de-committing from the Cardinals in July 2013. After an official visit to Illinois and then John Groce visiting Snider in Kentucky, he decided to commit to Illinois in September 2013. That commitment didn’t last long though.

Almost exactly two months later Snider, out of nowhere, de-committed from Illinois and decided to commit and sign on the same day with the Cardinals.
Illinois basketball really needed this type of playmaking guard. We are all seeing him now in the NCAA Tournament and it is making us sick.
Snider is replacing dismissed guard Chris Jones and he has done a great job. In the three games he has played in this tournament he is averaging almost 14 points and 4 rebounds per game. This type of production in a pressure situation like the NCAA Tournament means that he would have been an Illini game changer.
