4. Luigi Suigo
Illinois has done a good job filling out the roster with a solid big man. We always need to have some height waiting in the wings. That is where Luigi Suigo comes into play.
Suigo is a 7-foot-3, 240-pound center from Italy. He isn’t rated or ranked by 247Sports, but the interest is building for the big man. As of right now, Purdue is Illinois’ biggest competition for Suigo.
Illinois was able to get Suigo in the door for an official visit back in February. This past weekend, the big man visited the Boilermakers to see what West Lafayette was all about. Now we wait to see if there is any movement in his recruitment.
It is a little scary that Purdue is in the mix. They have been notorious for landing big men like Suigo. But with the way the Illini have been able to recruit overseas players, maybe there is a chance for the Orange and Blue to sneak in and snag him.
After the 2025-26 season, both of the Ivisic brothers will be gone. Illinois is going to need a nice big man to fill in. Suigo is the perfect option. While he is extremely tall, he is also mobile. He can move well to the basket, and his ability to run the pick-and-roll is impressive. The comps are tough, but I would say Suigo is Chet Holmgren with a worse outside game. He would still be a great addition to the Illinois roster for 2026.
