In limited minutes, Terrence Shannon Jr. showed some impressive work with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Throughout the season and into the playoffs, many fans, especially those of the Illini, were calling for Shannon to get more minutes. When he did see the floor, he was impressive, averaging 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in just 10.6 minutes of action a night.

Shannon is looking to really make a name for himself. It all starts with dominating the NBA Summer League and showing that he belongs in The Association.

Terrence Shannon Jr. Summer League schedule with the Minnesota Timberwolves

  • Game 1 – New Orleans Pelicans vs Minnesota Timberwolves – 3:30 p.m. ET; Thursday, July 10 (ESPN 2)
  • Game 2 – Minnesota Timberwolves vs Denver Nuggets – 10:00 p.m. ET; Saturday, July 12 (NBA TV)
  • Game 3 – Minnesota Timberwolves vs Detroit Pistons – 4:30 p.m. ET; Tuesday, July 15 (NBA TV)
  • Game 4 – Phoenix Suns vs Minnesota Timberwolves – 5:00 p.m. ET; Wednesday, July 16 (NBA TV)

Shannon is definitely a key part of Minnesota’s future. He was selected in the first round with pick No. 27 in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Timberwolves. That means they see a ton of potential in the kid.

Minnesota had two first-round picks last year, and the other selection was Rob Dillingham. They will both play together on the Summer League team.

There aren’t a ton of big names that most Illini fans would know on the Timberwolves roster. Nojel Eastern is a name that I recognize. He was an Illinois recruit out of Evanston. Eastern started his time at Purdue and finished at Howard.

At the end of the day, Shannon should be the star of this Summer League squad. It is going to be him and Dillingham feeding off each other.
