DJ Wagner - Transfer Portal

Illinois could always use an instant impact player from day one, and that player could be DJ Wagner. He is ready to go and has an NBA future, but one last ride to a national title with the Illini will hopefully be in the cards.

Coming out of Camden High School in New Jersey, the 6-foot-3, 165-pound combo guard was a five-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 6 player in the class of 2023. He was also the No. 1 combo guard in the country and the No. 2 player coming out of New Jersey.

Wagner picked Kentucky as his landing spot. During his freshman season, Wagner averaged 9.9 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game. After John Calipari left the program, Wagner decided to enter the transfer portal.

Orlando Antigua would be a driving force behind Wagner even looking at Illinois. I imagine we have to come with a bag of money as well. This kid has a lot of earning potential in what is likely his final season in college. I imagine the asking price is probably over a million dollars. That is speculation, though.

Wagner would get a starting job from day one. I would actually have him start at the No. 1 guard spot. Kylan Boswell, who is a much better shooter and scorer at this point, would then move over to the No. 2 spot. This would be a great backcourt. I would liken it to that of Dee Brown and Deron Williams, as they were both point guards who could score.
