No. 8 Sean Harrington

The inability to shoot at a high clip while taking at least 3.0 three-point attempts per game is what hurt Tom Michael. The same can’t be said for Sean Harrington.

Harrington was an extremely consistent shooter who didn’t put up a ton of three-point attempts, but he qualified for this list and was a solid shooter for the Illinois basketball program.

Among the Illinois players who averaged 3.0 three-point attempts in a season, Harrington had the No. 5, No. 8, and No. 27 best three-point shooting percentages.

Harrington only shot below 40% from three-point range one season, and that was his junior year when he shot 39.7%. That type of consistent shooting is impressive.

In 2002-03, Harrington took the most three-point attempts of his career, averaging 4.5 three-point shots per game. He hit those shots at a clip of 44.4%, which is second-best to the 45.9% he shot as a sophomore.

The only thing that is hurting Harrington from being higher on the list is the quantity of three-point attempts during his time at Illinois. While his percentage is extremely efficient, Harrington’s attempts rank No. 54, No. 71, and No. 94 out of 102 times an Illinois player shot at least 3.0 three-point attempts in a season.

Harrington was a great efficient shooter. If he could have gotten his quantity up higher, he would have been higher on this list. That doesn’t take away from the fact he was a sharpshooter for this program.
