No. 4 Forward

Starter: Ben Humrichous (GR)

I love this addition to the Illinois basketball team. Ben Humrichous has been through a journey in the basketball world, and there has to be some grit there. He has been through adversity, and I want those types of players on the roster.

Humrichous comes into the program after stops at NAIA Huntington University and Evansville. This past season with the Purple Aces, he averaged 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. At 6-foot-9, a thing that caught my eye was the fact he took 5.3 three-point attempts and hit them at a clip of 41.4%. Humrichous is huge for the program. I think he comes in and starts at the No. 4 spot next season.

Backup: Carey Booth (SO)

Illinois’ depth in the frontcourt is exciting. While we still need to add a player or two, having someone in the second unit like Carey Booth is crucial.

Booth comes from Notre Dame where he had a solid freshman season. He is likely to see at least 20 minutes per game with the Illini in 2024-25, as I have him being the primary backup at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Booth can shoot the three-point shot, but his length is what is going to be valuable. I think he is going to be a solid defender and someone who can give opposing defenses trouble with his versatility.

Backup: Transfer Portal

I want Illinois to get a couple of more frontcourt players. With four scholarships left, the Illini should look into a solid power forward who can give us 10 minutes per game. I want a bruiser. We have enough shooting on the bench. Give me someone who can bang around in the paint.
