No. 3 Guard

Starter: Tre White (JR)

The No. 3 spot is going to be an interesting position next season. Illinois did some great work in the transfer portal, and I believe incoming transfer Tre White is going to be the starter at the No. 3 spot.

White isn’t going to knock down 40% from three-point range, but he is effective enough from distance to get the defenders out on the perimeter. White is also great at getting to the hoop. He can slash with the best of the best, and that will help him get to the free throw line. Illinois was able to land a dynamic scorer in White out of the transfer portal.

Backup: Jake Davis (SO)

Illinois’ second unit got a lot stronger when we were able to land Jake Davis. The Mercer transfer had a great freshman campaign, and now he can grow his game in Champaign.

I love Davis and the potential he brings to the program. His development this season is going to be fun to watch. He is the future of this program as well. As of right now, I have Davis as the primary backup at the No. 3 spot. He is going to be able to come into the game in the second unit and light up the scoreboard from three-point range. Brad Underwood landed slashers and three-point shooters in the transfer portal, which fits his style of play perfectly.
