Projected Illinois basketball lineup with the addition of Kylan Boswell
Brad Underwood keeps impressing, as the Illinois basketball team has landed Kylan Boswell out of the transfer portal.
This is a massive get for the Illini. Boswell entered the transfer portal on April 9, and Illinois moved quickly on securing a visit and commitment.
Boswell now joins an Illinois roster that is going to look different from the Elite 8 squad we saw weeks ago. The addition of Boswell will change the look of the Illini lineup as well.
Here is the projected Illinois basketball lineup with the addition of Kylan Boswell
No. 1 Guard
Starter: Kylan Boswell (JR)
With Kylan Boswell now in the fold, I believe the Illinois lineup for the 2024-25 season could get a big shakeup. Boswell is a game-changing point guard who can elevate everyone on the Illini roster, so I have him entering next season as the starter in the No. 1 guard spot.
Boswell is a player I wish Illinois landed the first time around. Now that he is coming into his junior season, we get a player who has the potential to be one of the best talents in the college game. As a sophomore with Arizona, Boswell averaged 9.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. He also shot 37.9% from three-point range and 79.5% from the free throw line. Boswell can play defense, shoot well, and distribute with the best of the best. Illinois just landed a special talent out of the transfer portal.
Backup: Niccolo Moretti (SO)
I believe the future is extremely bright for Niccolo Moretti. In my previous predictions of the 2024-25 lineup, I didn’t have him starting, and I think he will keep the same role with Boswell now on the team.
Moretti is a very talented player. He only received 5.9 minutes in the 18 games he played this past season, but he dazzled when he was on the court. Moretti’s understanding of the point guard position is clear, and I think he will be helped greatly by Boswell’s knowledge of the game. I have Moretti being an important piece to the second rotation as the primary backup to Boswell at the No. 1 guard spot.
