Projected Illinois basketball lineup with the addition of Brandon Lee

Illinois basketball needed to add more talent to the class of 2025, and they landed a big recruit on Wednesday night.

No. 2 Guard

Starter: Kylan Boswell (SR)

If Kylan Boswell has a huge 2024-25 campaign, he is departing for the NBA. For now, since he isn’t projected to be selected in the 2025 NBA Draft, I have Boswell returning for the program next season.

In my opinion, Boswell was the biggest offseason addition to the Illinois basketball program. I know other players were highly touted, but Boswell brings a lot to the table. He is an incredible scorer, but his leadership, experience, and backcourt abilities will shine brightest. This kid is going to be great for the Orange and Blue.

Backup: Brandon Lee (FR)

With the big commitment from Brandon Lee on Wednesday, I think Illinois just found more depth at the No. 2 spot. Lee can come in and make an immediate impact. He needs to polish his shooting a bit, but he is on the cusp of being a big-time scorer.

Lee is a four-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 98 player in the class of 2025. He can put points on the board in a hurry, and he has the ability to get to the free throw line. I am excited to see what Brad Underwood is going to do with Lee’s game. Look for massive development in a short amount of time. I think Lee is the primary backup at the No. 2 guard as a freshman.
