Projected Illinois basketball lineup after Luke Goode entered the transfer portal
No. 3 Guard/Forward
Starter: Tre White (JR)
I think the roster the rest of the way out remains pretty solid. Illinois has brought in some fun talent from other programs, and one of the players I am intrigued about is Tre White. He is a talented wing who can help Illinois around the hoop.
White is coming from Louisville, where he put up 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. He isn’t going to be an ace three-point shooter, as he hit just 29.9% last season, but he can get to the basket and rebound the basketball. Those are two things Brad Underwood loves. I think White thrives in the Illinois offense. I have him starting at the No. 3 spot on the floor.
Backup: Jake Davis (SO)
While White might not be a big-time shooter and more of a slasher, I believe Jake Davis could help in the scoring departing for the Illini. He is coming into the program with little fanfare, but I believe Davis could be one of the biggest additions this offseason.
Davis comes into the Illinois program from Mercer. As a freshman, he averaged 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. The number that stands out to me is his 38.7% from three-point range. That is going to be a crucial number for the Illini. I think Davis is the primary backup at the No. 3 spot for the Illini. He is going to be our bench scoring.
