9. Rutgers Scarlet Knights 6-6 (4-5 Big Ten)

Rutgers is likely to do Rutgers things this season and win enough games to get into one of the bottom bowl games. I have them, once again, winning six games.

  • Biggest Wins: Washington, Minnesota

There could be an “upset” in the Big Ten opener for Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights welcome Washington. This is a long flight and the Huskies will likely take a step back this season. Rutgers always has a good defense, so this could be a nice win.

Needing some wins down the stretch to get to a bowl game, Rutgers could get back on track with a big win over Minnesota. This win breaks a four-game losing streak and helps build momentum for the Scarlet Knights.

  • Biggest Losses: Wisconsin, UCLA

Rutgers has a two-game homestand in the middle of the season that features games against Wisconsin and UCLA.

I have the Scarlet Knights dropping both of these contests. They are in the heart of a four-game losing streak. If Rutgers can knock one of these teams off, everything would change. But I just don’t see it happening.

  • Biggest Threats: @ Michigan State

The Spartans won’t be good this season, but by the time the final game of the season rolls around, their new quarterback will have gelled with the team.

I have Rutgers beating Michigan State in the final game of the season, but this game is a huge threat. Not only will the Spartans have more chemistry, but this is a game that will either make or break bowl hopes. That is a lot on the line.
