17. Purdue Boilermakers 4-8 (2-7 Big Ten)

I feel bad for Purdue, as they have a really tough schedule. I think Ryan Walters is a good coach, but this could be the end of the line for the Boilermakers headman.

  • Biggest Wins: @ Oregon State, @ Indiana

Purdue could have a couple of decent wins in 2024. They head to Oregon State, and while that would have been much tougher in 2023, I think the Boilermakers are the better team. The Beavers lost a lot of talent.

Another big win could be in the last game of the season in the rivalry against Indiana. The Hoosiers should have a good team, and who knows, this might be a game to keep Indiana out of a bowl game. Regardless, getting to four wins would be good for Purdue.

  • Biggest Losses: @ Illinois, @ Michigan State

With such a tough schedule, Purdue is going to need to find a couple of wins against okay teams in the Big Ten. Two teams they could target are Illinois and Michigan State.

I have the Boilermakers losing to both programs. After starting the season 1-3, Purdue heads into Champaign to take on the Illini. They need this win to right the ship but can’t clinch the victory.

Michigan State is one of the weakest teams on the Purdue schedule. But this game is on the road, and that does not bode well for the Boilermakers. Sadly, Purdue gets another loss on their record late in the season.

  • Biggest Threats: @ Oregon State, Northwestern, @ Indiana

I have Purdue beating Oregon State, Northwestern, and Indiana, but there are no guarantees in this group.

Going on the road with a three-hour time change isn’t going to be easy. Oregon State has something to prove, as they are one of two PAC-12 teams left. The Beaves will bring everything they have.

Purdue is going to need a win in the middle of the season, so Northwestern is going to be an important game. This is a bad Northwestern team, but they always have a good defense. The Wildcats could make this ugly.

Indiana is always a threat to Purdue. Regardless of record, these two teams always battle it out. If Purdue falls to the Hoosiers, this could be a two or three-win campaign.
