Projected Big Ten football standings for the 2024 season

The college football season is upon us, so here is a full projection of how the 2024 season will finish in the Big Ten.

16. Minnesota Golden Gophers 4-8 (2-7 Big Ten)

This could be the end of the road for PJ Fleck at Minnesota. I have the Golden Gophers struggling to a four-win campaign in 2024.

Biggest Wins: #25 Iowa

Minnesota is going to create some headlines early on, as I think they could start the season well. I have them beating No. 25 Iowa in game four.

The Hawkeyes aren’t going to be nearly as good as usual, so this is a chance for Minnesota to punch. Don’t let that game fool you, though. I have this program struggling the rest of the way out.

Biggest Losses: @ Illinois, @ Rutgers

The Golden Gophers have a tough schedule, but the final four games of the season ease up a bit. Despite the easier schedule, I have Minnesota dropping a few games.

For Minnesota to have any hope of getting to a bowl game, they would need to beat Illinois and Rutgers on the road. I just don’t see it. I think they drop both of these tough matchups and flounder to four wins.

Biggest Threats: #25 Iowa, Maryland

I know that Iowa is a big threat to Minnesota. This is a projected win, but it could easily be a loss if the Hawkeyes are better than I project.

Don’t be surprised if Maryland keeps up with Minnesota. While I think the Terrapins are going to be hot garbage in 2024, they seem to always have the ability to put points on the board. This game is a threat to the Golden Gophers.
