Projected Big Ten football standings for the 2024 season

The college football season is upon us, so here is a full projection of how the 2024 season will finish in the Big Ten.

14. Maryland Terrapins 4-8 (2-7 Big Ten)

We are starting to get to the bottom feeder of the Big Ten. I think Maryland is in for a step backward in 2024.

Biggest Wins: Michigan State

There aren’t a lot of wins on the Maryland schedule in 2024. I have them with four total wins, and the best victory is likely to come against Michigan State.

The Spartans have a new quarterback behind center, which could mean struggles early on. This is the second game of the season, so look for this game to go in favor of Maryland.

Biggest Losses: @ Virginia, @ Indiana

Maryland has to take advantage of the early part of their schedule. Once you get past Northwestern, things go off the rails. I see the Terrapins dropping the final six games of the season.

Two tough losses for the Terrapins could be against Virginia and Indiana. Both games are on the road, and they are in the front half of the 2024 campaign. These two losses will be backbreakers for any hope Maryland has of getting to a bowl game.

Biggest Threats: Michigan State

While this is the biggest win of the season, I think Michigan State is also the biggest threat among the four wins for Maryland.

As I mentioned, the Spartans have a new quarterback behind center, but that also means there is no tape on him. With this game being so early, Michigan State could come out and surprise Maryland. The Terrapins are going to need to be ready for this game.
