3. Kylan Boswell – Arizona Wildcats

New names enter the transfer portal daily. Illinois has targeted some of the big names in the transfer portal, but next to AJ Storr, Kylan Boswell was the closest transfer portal player we came to landing the first time around.

Boswell is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound guard who played his last two seasons with Arizona. He has put up good numbers through his sophomore campaign as well. This past season, Boswell averaged 9.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 35 starts. He also averaged 37.9% from three-point range and 79.5% from the free throw line.

During his initial decision, Boswell was down to Arizona and Illinois as his landing spot. He ultimately chose the Wildcats, but on Tuesday, Boswell entered the transfer portal to finish out his final two years in the college game.

I thought the Illini had an edge the first time around, as Boswell lived in Champaign through his eighth-grade year. He then moved out to California. While he didn’t come to Illinois the first time, this is the perfect opportunity for the Illini to pounce.

Illinois needs more guard help, and I think Boswell would fit in perfectly. He is more of a point guard, so I would likely have him start at the No. 1 spot and move Ty Rodgers to the wing at the No. 3 spot. That would give Rodgers more opportunity to slash and rebound the basketball. Boswell would flourish in the Illinois lineup.
