2. AJ Storr – Wisconsin Badgers
I believe Illinois needs some dogs who can score the basketball. We have great defenders right now, and some good slashers, but someone like AJ Storr would be an incredible addition.
Storr is a 6-foot-7, 205-pound wing who can do everything on the basketball court. He was once committed to Illinois but would back away from his commitment and head to St. John’s for his freshman campaign.
After one season with the Red Storm, Storr entered the transfer portal and landed with Wisconsin. He had a great sophomore campaign where he averaged 16. 8 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest.
Storr is an extremely exciting player with the basketball. He can score at all levels on the court, and that is rare with Illinois. He has a little Terrence Shannon Jr. in him with his tenacity, but I think Storr is a better mid-range shooter.
Nothing more has come out since Storr announced he was entering the NBA Draft and the transfer portal. I think it will be a while until he makes a decision. May 12 starts the NBA Draft Combine. Look for some time after that date for an announcement. When it is all said and done, Illinois might have a legitimate shot to land this talented wing.
