Illinois football wide receiver commit standing out among the best
Bret Bielema has the Illinois football team heading in the right direction for the class of 2025.
So far, the Illini have nine commitments for the 2025 class, and the group ranks No. 48 in the country. This is a pretty good start, which has been a trend for Bielema. Since he took over, Rivals.com has registered his first three recruiting classes with a ranking of No. 39, No. 36, and No. 45 in that order.
Securing another top 50 class or even better, a third top 40 class in four years, is something very obtainable. There are surely more players to commit in the near future, but Illinois already has some great talent coming to Champaign.
The top commit thus far, wide receiver Brayden Trimble, has been showing off his talents in offseason camps.
Trimble participated in the Rivals camps, and he shined with the best of the best. In fact, he made the Rivals Camp Series top five wide receivers.
The performance by Trimble was impressive enough to earn him some high praise, as he finished ahead of players who are ranked ahead of him in the class of 2025. A four-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 59 wide receiver in the country, I fully expect his recruiting profile to skyrocket in the coming months, especially with the 2024 season starting.
Illinois football has been able to secure top offensive recruits since Bret Bielema took over the program
Trimble is a great get for the Illini. He is an in-state recruit and someone who is going to make an impact on the program early and often.
As of right now, Trimble is Illinois’ top commitment and a four-star recruit. That has been a trend since Bielema took over the program as well.
In the class of 2024, Illinois is bringing in wide receiver Tysean Griffin and running back Ca’Lil Valentine, both four-star recruits. In 2023, Bielema pulled in running back Kaden Feagin and wide receiver Malik Elzy, both four-star recruits.
Illinois’ offense is building. We are putting together some great talent at the playmaking positions. Look for this program to have a big year offensively.
