Illinois football has just landed a huge player for the class of 2025.

Coming into Monday, the Illini had a great start to the 2025 class. We had five commitments and a class that ranked inside the top 50 nationally.

There seems to be a trend in the Illinois class of 2025 thus far as well. We are focusing on bringing in solid offensive players who can help move the ball down the field and score points.

On Monday, Illinois received another big commitment. Brayden Trimble took to social media to announce that he has picked Champaign as his landing spot.

Trimble is a 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver from Mt. Zion High School in Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 609 player in the class of 2025. He is also the No. 95 wide receiver in the country and the No. 17 player coming out of Illinois.

There was a wide range of teams vying for Trimble’s commitment. He had scholarship offers from programs like Auburn, Iowa, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, to name a few.

Bret Bielema is looking to build Illinois football into a dynamic offensive powerhouse

When I think about Illinois football, the offense is one of the last things that comes to mind. I think tough linebackers, great defensive lines, and shutdown cornerbacks. Bielema is starting to change the way I think, though.

The 2024 squad should be pretty solid offensively. We have Luke Altmyer back at quarterback, good wide receivers, and a workhorse running back in Kaden Feagin.

Bielema seems to be building for the future as well. Some of the best players from the 2024 class were offensive players. Carlos Orr is one of the top players in the class, and he is a 6-foot-4 monster wide receiver. I am excited about the potential of Ca’Lil Valentine, who will be playing running back for the Orange and Blue. He is a four-star according to multiple recruiting sites.

The class of 2025 is heavy with offensive players as well. We have six commitments right now, and four of those six pledges play offense. This group includes our future quarterback Carson Boyd, two talented offensive linemen, and now a wide receiver who is going to be a nice big target for Boyd.

Illinois football has a bright future. Bielema is putting together some nice recruiting classes, and he is also hitting the transfer portal. I like the direction of this program.
