Illinois football was able to snag a big piece to the offensive puzzle on Sunday night.

The Illini are really starting to put together a solid class of 2025. Coming into Sunday, the class consisted of six players, but there were numerous players on campus taking official visits.

Among the commitments for the Illini thus far is quarterback Carson Boyd. He is the future at the position, but he is going to need talent around him to catch the ball.

Illinois received that talent on Sunday night. Davion Chandler took to social media to announce that he has decided to commit to the Illinois football program.

This was a big addition for Bret Bielema and the Illini coaching staff. Chandler is a 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver from Lawrence North High School in Indiana. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 767 player in the class of 2025. He is also the No. 122 wide receiver in the country and the No. 10 player coming out of Indiana.

Illinois was able to beat out a number of other programs for his commitment including the likes of Big Ten foes Wisconsin and Indiana.

The Illinois coaching staff continues to focus on building a great class of 2025, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

I mentioned Boyd earlier, who will come in at quarterback. He is ranked in the top 700 nationally. Illinois’ top commitment is wide receiver Brayden Trimble out of Mt. Zion, Illinois. He is in the top 500 nationally.

As it stands right now, five out of the top six players for the Illini class of 2025 are all on the offensive side of the ball. This includes two crucial offensive linemen to help protect Boyd in the future.

I love the focus on the offense. It has been a long time since Illinois has had a powerful offense, but it seems that we are trying to build to that status once again. A player like Chandler will help tremendously.
