Cayden Boozer – Class of 2025
A new name that might be emerging for the Illinois basketball program is Cayden Boozer. He is the son of former NBA star Carlos Boozer.
Boozer is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound point guard from Columbus High School in Florida. He is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 19 player in the class of 2025. He is also the No. 3 point guard in the country and the No. 3 player coming out of Florida.
The numbers from Boozer were impressive in the Peach Jam. He averaged 9.3 points, 6.9 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game in eight contests. Boozer was one of the driving forces behind his Nightrydas Elite AAU team forging ahead and winning the Peach Jam title.
Illinois wasn’t in the discussion for Boozer just a week ago. He has taken four official visits so far which include stops at Kentucky, Miami (FL), Florida, and his dad’s alma mater, Duke.
On Thursday, Derek Piper of 247Sports reported that Illinois is starting to make a push for Boozer. They contacted him through Zoom and offered him a scholarship.
Something to keep an eye out for is that the Kentucky visit back in September was due to then-assistant coach Orlando Antigua being such a great recruiter. He is now the Illinois assistant coach, and this is the strong connection that ties our potential of landing the talented point guard.
